Claire Williams
I am an experienced Clinical Psychologist having worked clinically in the NHS for over 10 years with roles across a variety of health and mental health services. I qualified from the Universities of Coventry & Warwick and prior to this had built a number of years of experience working therapeutically with adults, young people and children from many different walks of life. As a Clinical Psychologist my work with adults has been in primary care services and neuro-rehabilitation services. My work with children and young people has been in specialist psychological services at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and prior to qualification in social care/third sector services.
Currently, I work within a mental health service for older people in the NHS, based in South Devon.
I offer private psychological therapy to individuals online and face to face in Totnes, South Devon.
I adopt a deeply sensitive and person-centred approach with my patients. I have training in a wide variety of therapeutic approaches and adapt the approach to you as an individual. I believe in tailored interventions that make the best use of ideas and strategies from a range of therapy models to suit the individual. In my experience, everybody comes with a different life experience and a different set of inner resources some of which will be helpful in the current context and some of which will no longer be helpful. We can use these resources as a good starting point to facilitate the process of growth and healing.
My work draws from a wide scope of therapeutic approaches including but not limited to Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy; Mindfulness based approaches; Solution-focused therapy and Narrative therapy.}
